Grammar a Day - Level 1 - まして〜はクがない (mashite〜hazuganai)

まして〜はずがない (mashite〜hazuganai) - it is even more unlikely that 〜

--- Examples ---
大人でさえ知らない事は、 まして子供は知っているはずがない。
It is even more unlikely/it is impossible for children to know things that
even adults don't know.

大人でさえ知らないし、まして子供は知っているはずがない
Even adutls also have no idea about it, it is even more unlikely for/it is
impossible for/let alone of children to know about it

--- Comments ---
In #5844, 大人でさえ知らない事は should be changed to read:
大人でさえ知らないし (contributor: bamboo4)

The English is wonky. How about 'It is impossible for children to know
about this matter that even adults don't know.'? For bamboo4's suggestion:
'Even adults don't know about this thing, so it's impossible that children
would know it.' (contributor: nanashi)

ありがとう,
bamboo さん and nanashi さん. I just noticed the awkwardness of the
English translation.
bamboo is correct if it follows the English translation precisely. So is
nanashi .
' It is even more unlikely for children to know about this matter that even
adults don't know' (contributor: 誠)
