きらいがある (kiraigaaru) - there is a tendency for ~ to happen (and
it is somewhat bad and/or a cause for concern)

きらいがある is used for tendencies or characteristics that people
have, usually unfavorable ones.

This is a formal grammar structure.

--- Examples ---
人は自分の聞きたくないことは耳に入れないというきらいがあるのではないか。
It seems people have a tendency not to listen to things they dont want to
hear, right?

彼女は優しいですが、知らずに人を傷付けることを言うきらいがある。
She is a nice person; however, she tends to say hurtful things
unintentionally.

人間は年をとると、ほかの人の話しを聞かなくなるきらいがある。
As humans get on in years, they tend to not listen to what others say.

まだしも (madashimo) - would be much better, would be acceptable

一度ならまだしもここまで六回その言葉を間違えって書いた。
Once would be acceptable, but you've misspelled that word six times now.

この方がまだしもあれよりよい。
This would be better than that.

こんなひどい目に合うよりまだしも死んだほうがよい。
I would rather die than have such a terrible experience.

すうじつならまだしも１０日も滞納している。
A few days would have been excusable but you are in arrears for 10 days.

今さら〜たところで (imasara-tatokorode) - it's already too late

This is usually followed by a negative.

　imasara (verb-ta) tokorode, (verb2-nai)
　imasara setsumei shita tokorode, yurusanai.

= its too late to explain - you won't be forgiven

今さら説明したところで先生は許してくれないと思う。
It's too late to explain, I don't think the teacher will forgive you now.

今さら騒いだところで、どうにもならないよ。後の祭りだよ。
Yelling about it won't help now . You should have done that when it
counted.

今さら、戻ったところで、彼はもうおまえを愛しないようになった。

It's too late to come back, he no longer loves you.

A better translation would be ' Even if (one) had 〜ed now, ... still ...'

I agree with 誠. ex#3980 translation makes more sense as: 'Even if you
make a fuss now, nothing can be done (about it). It's too late!'

やまない (yamanai) - not to stop

Kids don't stop seeking their parent's love.

Formed from verb-te + yamanai. (Note that Vte is usually associated with
feelings & desires).

Vte = Verb, -te connective form. (contributor: Amatuka)

This expression is normally used in written Japanese; not conversaitonal
Japanese. I think this belong to Class 3. (contributor: bamboo4)

class 3 as in sankyuu? it seems more 1-kyuu to me, esp if only used

〜てやまない. This is often used with words such as 求める,
希望する, 祈る and 願う. (contributor: blabby)

This grammar is indeed for 1kyuu and does not always belog to the written
language. If you hold a speech the form '-teyamimasen'
「てやみません」

It comes from the word「やむ」that means stop. For example you can say
「雨いつごろやむかな」, which corresponds to when you in English
want to say 'When will it stop raining, I wonder'.

Or this
A>「あれ、ピアノの音がやんだ。レッスン終わったんだ」Eh?
The sound of the piano stopped. The lesson is over.

B>　「そうね」Yes, indeed.

to the verb 「やむ」、although this grammar comes from the word
